Yes, this is a good idea. However, it may not be the best because rainy days also tend to disrupt any repairs that may be needed. Also, it's uncertain to predict when the rains would eventually stop, enough for you to make the repairs. Maybe it's better to simulate rain by hosing your roof. You may be able to detect any leaks in the same way.
